New York Times cafeteria closed after 15 people get sick

Contaminated pasta salad is believed to be the culprit behind at least 15 people getting sick at The New York Times cafeteria Thursday.

According to a New York Daily News report, “the old gray lady’s” dining room was closed – but re-opened Friday – after more than a dozen people reported getting sick after eating there.

Initial reports indicated spoiled pasta salad may be to blame. Although the dining room has re-opened, self-serve foods are not available today.

City health officials have convened upon The Times to investigate any possible contamination problems in the kitchen at the newspaper.

All prepared foods were discarded after the reports surfaced and the kitchen shuddered for the day.

No official determination into the cause of the illnesses has been made.
