In what seems to be a daily trend, two more cases of E. coli poisoning have been reported in Vermont. These cases are linked to other cases in the state where people ate tainted ground beef.
Of the two new cases in Vermont, both were hospitalized and one was a child. The cases tested positively for the 0157:H7 strain of E. coli bacteria.
The ground beef linked to the infectious bacteria has been tracked to a “few restaurants in Vermont”, according to The Burlington (Vt.) Free Press.
These cases also add to the growing list of E. coli cases across the country, most of which have been traced to undercooked food or poor food hygiene at food distribution points, like shipping warehouses and restaurants.
Several restaurants have been closed, at least temporarily, after they’ve become linked to an E. coli outbreak.
