Ground beef suspected in latest E. coli outbreak

Eight confirmed cases of E. coli infection around Columbus, Ohio, have been linked to another small outbreak of infections in northern Ohio and Michigan.

Ohio state health officials told Associated Press the cases in each region share genetic similarities to each other. Nine cases of E. coli have been confirmed in Michigan.

Officials in both states believe the outbreak is linked to tainted ground beef, but could not identify a source of the meat.

They were also mum on the identities, or even characteristics of the victims so far.
