Fresh Express recalling expired Romaine lettuce products due to possible E. coli contamination

Fresh Express is recalling certain expired Romaine Lettuce products because they may be contaminated with E. coli bacteria.

According to a release from the Salinas, Calif., company, any Fresh Express salad product with Romaine lettuce and an “S” in the Product Code are included in this recall. These products feature Use By dates of July 8 through July 12.

Fresh Express is asking consumers and retailers to check their remaining supplies of its product to ensure none of these bagged salads remain on store shelves. No illnesses have been linked to these Fresh Express products.

The company says it is recalling these expired packages of Romaine lettuce after one bag of its Hearts of Romaine salad returned a positive E. coli test.
