Fisher Rex Sandwich issues recall due to Listeria poisoning

Fisher Rex Sandwich of Raleigh, N.C., has issued a recall on its line of chicken salad sandwiches because of Listeria contamination.

In a story from WRAL-TV in North Carolina, Fisher Rex Chicken Salad on Wheat and Fisher Rex Chicken Salad sandwiches are included in the recall.

North Carolina Department of Agricultural and Consumer Services spotted the contamination during routine inspections.

The sandwiches are sold in 3 3/4-inch packages and have Sell By dates of October 27, October 29 and November 11.

Recalled products are sold in convenience and grocery stores throughout North Carolina.

Consumers should return the sandwiches where they were purchased, or discard them.

Listeria poisoning can be fatal if it affects people with weakened immune systems.
