Enoki mushrooms recalled after Listeria discovered

A Pennsylvania mushroom farm is recalling numerous lots of its enoki mushrooms because they could be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a potentially fatal food-borne bacteria.

The mushrooms were tested at Phillips Mushroom Farm in Kennett Square, Pa., near Lancaster, and found to be contaminated. The recall is in reaction to the test, and no reports of illness have been reported yet.

The recall affects the 3.5-ounch, 4-ounce and 1-pound packages of enoki mushrooms. Enoki are typically long, thin white tubes with a small button-top. They are sold in singular bunches of many shoots. Enoki are also known as snow or winter mushrooms and are popular in Chinese cuisine. Numerous brand names are affected:
