California company recalls White Sesame Seeds due to Salmonella contamination

A California firm is recalling recent lots of Lian How White Sesame Seeds because they could be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria.

According to a release from Spice Industrial Group Inc., lots of its sesame seeds distributed from Nov. 6 until Dec. 11, 2009, are affected by the recall announcement.

Recalled products were sold in 5-pound white plastic bags with Specialty Commodities Corp. labels and distributed to retailers, wholesalers and restaurants in Southern California.

The seeds were supplied by Specialty Commoditites Corp., according to the release, which notified the buyer of the contamination.

No illnesses have been linked to this contaminated product.
