More residents of Alamosa, Colorado have been confirmed as having salmonella as a result of a tainted city drinking water.
The total number of residents affected by the outbreak is now 47, up from 33 yesterday. At least 76 other cases remain unconfirmed, according to Associated Press.
Officials in Alamosa still have not confirmed the contamination is really salmonella, but the amount of cases certainly leads to that assumption. Also, officials have not identified the source of the contamination.
Residents will be forced to use bottled water for most activities while officials flush the city’s system. The city has set up four centers where residents can have access to free, clean water so long as they bring their own bottles for filling.
