An outbreak of salmonella has been confirmed in the town of Alamosa, Colorado, according to a TV station, KUSA-TV.
Authorities have confirmed 18 cases of salmonella poisoning and have at least 21 more cases pending. It is unclear what the source of the outbreak is, but many of the victims are contained in this one municipality and range in age from 4 months to 18 years.
The Alamosa County Nursing Service is encouraging people to wash their hands thoroughly and use caution when handling meat, poultry and eggs.
