Princeton’s Frist Gallery Implicated in Salmonella Outbreak

The student-newspaper The Princetonian reports school and health officials may have identified the source of a salmonella outbreak at the Ivy League university.

Also, the number of infected students has risen from 10, at our last report, to 16, including one staff member. A Princeton Regional Health

Department officer says an early analysis of food eating histories of sick and healthy patients points to Frist Gallery in Princeton. The results, however, are not conclusive because a majority of the university’s students eat there regularly.

Though data collected so far is inconclusive, the eating hall Frist Gallery is taking precautionary measures. It has switched produce suppliers and closed two stations of the food court. Since these measures have taken place the school reports no new outbreaks of salmonella have been reported.

Nearly 60 more students have reported gastrointestinal pain, nearly six times the normal amount in a given week at Princeton.
