Illinois Salmonella Outbreak Tied to Subway Restaurants Continues to Grow

The number of Salmonella cases connected to Illinois Subway restaurants continues to grow.

There are now 79 confirmed cases of the rare Salmonella serotype Hvittingfoss, with the age range of the people who have been sickened ranging from 2-79.

Cases have been reported in connection with Subway restaurants in 26 counties in Illinois; all illnesses started between May 14 and May 25.

Health officials say their investigation is ongoing; the restaurants have replaced all lettuce, green peppers, red onions and tomatoes from the suspected dates.
