Listeria Tainted Bratwurst Recalled

The Minnesota Department of Agriculture is warning consumers to avoid smoked pork and beef bratwurst produced by J&B Meats of Barnesville, Minn. Product sampling found the products were contaminated with listeria bacteria.

No illness has been reported to these findings, according to that state agency’s Web site.

The bratwurst has a lot number PBB30306 and a Minnesota State Establishment Number 1198. The meats were sold in stores in Barnesville, Minn., and were often frozen. Consumers are asked to return the meat to the store where purchased.

Minnesota health and agriculture officials found the bacteria during a routine inspection but have yet to determine the source of the listeria outbreak. We’ve been reporting on this blog about a farm in Massachusetts that experienced a similar contamination of its fresh milk that injured several dozen and killed a few men.
