New Jersey company expands recall to include more Sliced Herring

Zip International Group LLC has expanded a previous recall on its Sliced Herring Fillet which may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria.
According to a release from the Edison, N.J., company, the recall now includes Sliced Herring Fillet (forelka) sold in 330- and 600-gram sizes. Included in the recall is product with a Best By date of 5/18/2012. This product was sold at retail establishments in New York state and is process in Ukraine.
Zip International claims no illnesses have been linked to the consumption of the products included in this recall.
No reason is given which prompted the recall.
Listeria poisoning can be life-threatening and recent outbreaks of illness have claimed dozens of lives. Pregnant women, children and the elderly are most prone to more severe symptoms of Listeria poisoning.
People suffering from Listeria poisoning may experience dizziness, headaches, fever, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.
